Venice claims oldest carnival celebration

In many places around the world, from Trinidad to Rio de Janeiro to New Orleans' famed Mardi Gras Pre-Lenten are celebrated the carnivals. With laws establishing the holiday dating back to the 13th century Venice claims to have the oldest carnival tradition. Thus, the oldest document pertaining to the use of masks in Venice dates back to 2nd May 1268. In this year, the Venice carnival which known for elaborate costumes and masks, will takes place from February 17 till February 28. Masked balls, music and dance performances, gondola parades, formal dinners and children's celebrations include events. As every year, event organizers of ball in costume are inside historical palaces.
