Santo Stefano Square becomes a Christmas Village

Christmas brings cheery street markets to the Venice and the villages around, their brightly coloured stalls attracting townspeople and visitors. Santo Stefano Square becomes a Christmas Village. Over 30 miniature wooden Alpine stalls are set up in the historic, bustling square. The goods on sale are cautiously selected by Confartigianato Venezia and include typical hand-made Venetian products such as glass, lace, paper, soap and perfumes, toys, cribs, frames and leather objects. There is, of course, a corner for experts of food and drink - the Campiello dei Golosi is a large area inside the market where traders and producers from all over Italy sell gastronomic products representing the various regions. Accompanying the market are a series of performances and concerts in the square, together with numerous activities designed to entertain younger visitors.
